Kuba hat für die Tageszeitung junge Welt eine besondere Bedeutung. Sie begleitet die revolutionären Prozesse im Land, um Gegeninformationen zu den Verzerrungen und bewussten Lügen in den bürgerlichen Medien zu setzen. Viele Reisen führten die junge Welt gemeinsam mit der Kubasolibewegung in die Hauptstadt Havanna. Dabei entstanden sind auch Freundschaften mit Fotografen aus Kuba und Europa, die ihre Solidarität mit der sozialistischen Karibikinsel eint. Eine kleine Auswahl ihrer Fotos findet man seit 2012 jährlich im Solikalender „Viva La Habana“. Darunter auch Bilder des renommierten kubanischen Filmemachers und Fotografen Roberto Chile, der 2019 für sein Lebenswerk mit dem Nationalen Journalismuspreis José Martí ausgezeichnet wurde. Der sehr persönliche und herzliche Blick der Fotografen auf Menschen und Stadt macht diesen Kalender unverwechselbar.

Now available: the Cuba Solidarity Calender 2021
Cuba has a special meaning for the newspaper junge Welt. jW reports on the revolutionary process to counter misinformation and lies spread by bourgeois media. Together with the Cuba solidarity movement junge Welt made many trips to the Capital Havana. Thereby friendships with Cuban and European photographers developed, who are united by their solidarity with the socialist Carribean island. Since 2012 a small selection of their photographs can be seen in the annual solidarity calender »Viva la Habana«. Including works of the cuban filmmaker and photographer Roberto Chile, who was honoured for his life’s work with the national journalism award José Martí in 2019. The photographers’ deeply personal and warmly view on the people and the city really makes this calender stand out.
